the very heart of North Carolina, Silver Creek is conveniently located
to some of the state's most outstanding outdoor recreational areas.
For boating
and fishing enthusiasts, picturesque, 6,500 acre Lake James
is only four miles away. The lake is located at the mouth of Linville
Gorge one of the largest, national wilderness areas east of
the Mississippi and an area providing outstanding hiking, fishing,
camping and mountain scenery.
South Mountain State Park, the state's largest, is nearby
and the Blue Ridge Parkway is less than an hour away. With both
a moderate local winter climate and easy access to some of the
Southeast's best ski resorts, Silver Creek residents find it possible
to play golf in the morning and snow ski in the afternoon.
Only a mile from I-40 exit 98, Silver Creek is an easy 20 minute
drive from Hickory, with its furniture outlets, 45 minutes from
Asheville and the Biltmore Plantation; and less than 60 minutes
from the transportation, cultural and sporting center of Charlotte.
